SHINE aims to respect and safeguard the privacy of all clients that have contact with the organisation. All Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Trainers have professional membership and work with clients according to the Ethical Guidelines laid down by a specific professional body:

UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a membership organization with a Code of Ethics that defines general principles and establishes standards of professional conduct for Psychotherapists in their work. It also informs and protects those members of the public who seek their services.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is a registered charity working towards the promotion and regulation of counselling and psychotherapy, both for the profession and the public benefit.

British Psychological Society
The British Psychological Society has national responsibility for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good, and promotes the efficiency and usefulness of its members by maintaining a high standard of professional education and knowledge.

SHINE counsellors/psychotherapists and trainers are CRB checked.

SHINE endeavours to process all information submitted to the organisation in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and related subsequent legislation. SHINE is the 'Data Controller' for this Website.

As far as possible, SHINE maintains security measures and procedures to protect all data stored on computer systems. However, it is recognised that SHINE is unable to fully ensure the security of messages transmitted over the Internet.
